Pre-Meeting Input Form (May 31)

Thank you for participating in our first Listening Session on Sunday, May 31.  We will continue evaluating matters related to our church polity, constitution, and bylaws. We want to hear from you as we prayerfully consider how our church makes decisions together and how we can move forward with trust, accountability, and shared mission.

What was covered

During the session, we discussed

 • What church polity is — a simple framework for understanding authority, accountability, and trust within the church
 • How other churches approach governance through several common polity models
 • How our current structure functions, including the relationship between the congregation, governing board, and staff
 • Which decisions may best belong to the congregation and which may be entrusted to church leadership

Your Voice Matters

We still want your honest feedback on questions such as:

 • Which decisions feel essential for the congregation to make?
 • What helps build trust in church leadership and governance?
 • Where have you experienced confusion or frustration in our current structure?
 • What communication or reporting would help you stay informed and engaged?

We sincerely appreciate your participation, feedback, and prayerful engagement as we work together thoughtfully, transparently, and collaboratively as a church body.

Transition Team:

Over the next 12–15 months, Century Baptist Church will continue in an important season of focused transition and revitalization. To help lead us faithfully through this season, we are forming a Transition Team. This team will serve as a guiding coalition of spiritually mature leaders who will work alongside Pastor Dave and in support of the elders to help guide CBC into a healthier, clearer, and more missionally aligned future. The responsibility of the Transition Team can be summarized in two words: Organization and Organism. The first addresses our governing structure. The second addresses our spiritual direction and vision. Both are necessary for renewal.
