The Basement is waiting for us! Middle School (Grades 6-8): 6:30-8:00pm.

Middle School (Grades 6-8), 8:30am, Up in the Basement. Breakfast is served!

the basement

So the youth room is upstairs… but it’s called The Basement?

"We strive to provide a place that helps students become radical disciples of Jesus Christ. In Acts 17 there were some young followers of Jesus who were changing the world. The accusation against them was that they were “turning the world upside down.” Our hope is that our student ministry would be a place that world changers would be equipped and sent out to do great things for Jesus Christ."

"A community of students that seeks to become like Jesus Christ by knowing Him, serving Him, and introducing others to Him."

what we teach and why

A disciple of Jesus is someone who actively follows Him and loves people.  In our Middle School Ministry, we strongly believe that there are three things that need to be constantly talked about with students: identity, belonging, and purpose.

Everything we do and talk about in the Middle School Ministry has to do with these three truths:

(For more info on these truths, click here for our Parent Guide)

  • I will live out God's story by loving others so they can know who Jesus is.

  • I will grow as a disciple connected to other disciples.

  • I will actively follow Jesus believing He knows me better than I know myself.

ways to stay connected

  1. Subscribe to Our YouTube Channel: UpInTheBasement. One way we are using YouTube is to read through a passage of Scripture "together"-even if it means being together over a screen. We be posting other videos on YouTube as well. Our YouTube Channel is UpInTheBasement: youtube.com/UpInTheBasement.

  2. Download the Marco Polo App We are continuing to encourage Small Group Leaders to connect with students.  If you would like to connect with your child's SGL, please connect with me (april@centurybaptist.org) and I'd be glad to get that contact info to you. Marco Polo is not a social media app; think of it like a "walkie talkie" video messaging app.  This is one way that we as MSM Youth Leaders and SGLs are connecting with each other. And let me tell you, families, we absolutely have the best youth leaders around. If you are interested in downloading it for your teen and would like more info, check out this link from Common Sense Media: commonsensemedia.org/app-reviews/marco-polo-video-chat.

  3.  Student Texting Updates If your student would like to receive daily encouragement and other MSM updates, they can text thebasement to 97000.

  4. Parent Texting Updates If you would like to receive updates on the latest MSM emails, YouTube videos, and encouragement during this chaotic season, text parentsofmsm to 97000.
