OVERVIEW:
The Administrative Assistant’s role is to greet and assist all individuals who enter or contact our facility, and to provide administrative support to the staff.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Administrative Assistant practices hospitality, relays information, and provides scheduling and
administration for the church. The hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
1. Hospitality
The Administrative Assistant warmly welcomes, listens to, and directs all who enter Century Baptist Church.
▪ Being attentive with sincere eye contact, empathy, and offering refreshments
▪ Clearly offering directions, resources, or referrals as needed
2. Relays Information
The Administrative Assistant assists those who contact CBC by directing them to the appropriate location.
▪ Assigning follow-ups to the appropriate individual in a timely fashion
▪ Supporting Staff by taking messages and passing on calls, voicemails, requests, and emails
3. Scheduling and Administration for the Church
The Administrative Assistant maintains the facility’s reservations, daily schedules, and calendars.
▪ Assisting staff, volunteers, and outside parties with facility usage
▪ Schedules the opening and closing of the building, along with the door locking system
▪ Maintains the church calendar and database
▪ Other administrative tasks as needed
OTHER SKILLS AND TASKS:
▪ Highly organized and efficient
▪ Competent computer skills
▪ Copier function and basic maintenance
▪ Operate other office machines (folding, mailing, laminating, etc)
▪ Organize, inventory, and order office supplies
QUALIFICATIONS:
▪ Commitment to the mission and values of Century Baptist Church
▪ Attend worship services at Century Baptist Church on a regular basis
▪ High school diploma or equivalent required.
▪ Administrative or office experience preferred, ideally in a nonprofit or church setting.
▪ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and familiarity with church management software
(e.g., Planning Center, Basecamp, Breeze, etc) is a plus.
▪ Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
▪ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
▪ Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
▪ A team player with a positive attitude and a heart for serving others.
